The Bwindi impenetrable forest is a large primaeval forest located in South-Western Uganda in Kanungu District. The forest is on the edge of the Albertine Rift, the western branch of the East African Rift, at elevations ranging from 1,160 to 2,607 meters and is 331KM². The year 1991 saw its establishment, and notably, it’s most known for the 400 Bwindi gorillas, half of the world’s population of endangered mountain gorillas. The park is a sanctuary for Columbus monkeys, chimpanzees, and many birds like hornbills and turacos.
