The Madmaheshwar holy site, regarded as the 'Second Kedar', is perched at an altitude of 3289 meters at the base of Chaukhamba Peak.

The navel of Lord Shiva is said to have reappeared here, and Shiva is worshipped in the form of a navel-shaped lingam. The water here is considered very holy, and only a few drops are enough for the purification of body and soul. The pilgrim site amidst snow-clad mountains is also known for its scenic beauty. The Kedar and Neelkanth peaks are visible from here, and the confluence of MADMAHESHWAR GANGA and Markanda Ganga at Gaundhar is located nearby. During winter, the Madmaheshwar temple and the idols are ceremoniously taken to Ukhimath for everyday ritual worship.
