The grand Lincoln Memorial towers over the Reflecting Pool, and its design inspired by ancient Greek Temples. There are 36 columns, each one representing one state in the USA at the date of President's Lincoln death. This temple is in the hearts of the American people for whom Abraham Lincoln fought hard to preserve the union. The memorial was opened to the public in 1922
