Serengeti covers theSerengeti/Mara ecosystem. It is a park that trails within the boundaries of two East African countries. Serengeti national park in Tanzania covers 14700 sq km. It is one of the areas famous for its migration. Called the great migration. It is the largest free land wildlife migration in the world, with more than 2 million animals migrating annually between the Serengeti/ mara ecosystem. Normally four animal species migrate in large numbers, the wildebeest with a proximity of 1.5 million, zebras with a proximity of 700,000, eland in a proximity of 200,000 and gazelles in a proximity of 500,000. Move annually between the Serengeti/mara ecosystem. Normally these four animal species are among the main migrants.

This migration is driven by many factors, among which are the lust and search for foraging grounds and water. However, the climate has a great impact on animal movements. Early rains indicate early migration, and late rains indicate late migration. Normally the rain patterns keep the river water levels at different levels; most rivers in the Serengeti are seasonal rivers depending on rainwater and springs. Rivers like the Grumeti river, Mbalageti river, and Bologonja are seasonal rivers; the only permanent river in the Serengeti is the Mara river, forcing animals to migrate up north in the dry season. Normally in the months of August and September, herds reach the upper north part of Serengeti. One can see the migration in more than ten to eleven months of the year. Having a vast area coverage, Serengeti has the central part of Seronera, the western corridor, the eastern corridor, the southern corridor and the north corridor. Animals are in different parts at different months of the year. Mostly in the months of January/ February in the southern part; normally, this is the calving season. There are projected locations for the different months of the year. The north is best in the dry season. Here one can view the mara river crossing.

It is good to arrange a trip with a reputable tour operator. There are many operators, especially on the internet. Care should be taken when booking safaris, operators accredited with tourHQ and the Tanzania tourist board are highly recommended, as most have good records of service and trustworthiness, giving you the true value for your money.

The main activity that keeps Serengeti alive is the great migration, sighting of the big five, fascinating landscapes and extended plains, and much more to explore.

For migration packages, it is essential to know your travelling month to be in a position to have high chances to take properties near the main herd's direction. I personally recommend a minimum stay of three days as the land area is massive; having more days gives one an added advantage. As there are many parks in Tanzania, currently 22 national parks, it is good to spare extra time for Serengeti national park due to its vastness. To explore Serengeti, a good one needs to have more time. There are many overnight properties in all locations of the Serengeti. One can arrive by charted flights to the Serengeti daily. There are flights arriving from Zanzibar, Dar es Salaam and Arusha daily flying in the Serengeti. Seronera is a favoured destination in the central Serengeti and Bologonja airstrip in the north.

Visit the Serengeti, and let tourHQ give you an exploring experience of Tanzania. I recommend travellers make use of the great network that joins travellers to the guides who know these areas. Giving a chance to share a great travel experience. Keep it up tourHQ for the great achievement.
