Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal. A city with history, culture, art and architecture, it is widely popular as the city of temples too. Kathmandu Valley consists of three districts namely- Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur. The Newar community has dominated the valley for a long time.

One of the four UNESCO World Heritage listed sites of Nepal, Kathmandu has seven different UNESCO World Heritage Zones:

-Soyambhunath: Widely famous as 'The Monkey Temple', it is Buddhist monastery situated on the top of the hill. One can get a picturesque view of the entire Kathmandu valley from the top. The sacred sites have several monuments including the giant monastery. 

-Pashupatinath: One of biggest Hindu Temples, one can see the crematory actions in Hindu rituals here.

-Boudhanath: One of the biggest Buddhist Monasteries in South Asia, the giant Stupa is a joy to watch.

-Kathmandu Durbar Square: The palace was mostly built in 14th to the 18th century by the Malla and Shah dynasty and was used as the resident. It is also famous for the Kumari- living goddess.

-Patan Durbar Square: Yet another Durbar Square built by the Malla Kings, this palace consists of some the historic aspects of Patan and the kings of Patan.

-Bhaktapur Durbar Square: The biggest among three palace square in Kathmandu. 

-Changu Narayan Temple: The oldest temple of Nepal and the sacred site of Hindus.
