Folk Stories says once upon a time the old Mataram Kingdom in Central Java was ruled by a queen name Pramudawardhani who was married to Rakai Pikatan. They went sailing to the east through Java Ocean using an outrigger boat. They kept going straight to the east and embark in a harbor. The harbor named Lomboq (Straight), to memorized their long journey. Then, Lomboq is not only the name of the harbor but it is the name of an Island.
Lomboq then transformed into Lombok, they sailed by outrigger boat that called “sak-sak”, and the people there are called sak-sak which means people that come by outrigger boat, then they mingle with the local people.
