Himalayan Primroses

This heavenly place is called “Poonering kish” (The place of Primulas), in native language, situated in the extreme of Nazbar valley of Yasin Tehsil of District Ghizar valley 140 km west to the Gilgit city, it takes 4 hour jeep drive to reach Yasin Valley from Gilgit city (peak behind is unclimbed and known as Khabar peak its one above 6000 meter peak of Hindu Kush Mountains Ranges, area at the foot of peak is Known as Khabar that’s for local people mostly shepherds called it Khabar peak). These lovely plants with purple flowers, locally called “Pooner Gambori” (Primula flower) are the most vivid and beautiful flowers found in this region.”Pooner” blooms in the early summer and normally found in high altitude areas.”Poonering kish”, is such a high land area in Nazbar valley of Yasin, quite popular for its plentiful growth of Primula flowers, which is pretty unusual as nowhere in this region theses flower are found in such abundance... The natives have a fascination for the Primula flower for its enchanting beauty and mesmerizing fragrance. The “Pooner Gambori”(Primula flower) has been the favourite theme of local songs as well. The poets have an appeal for this flower for its amazing beauty, purity and freshness which they employ to attribute to the beloved in their poetry. The area of ‘Poonering kish’ presents a divine scene in summer and to inhale the fresh fragrance of Primula at the foot of snow-white mountains of Hindu Kush Range is one of the most soul soothing experiences of life. To relish such an experience a foot-walk of around 12 to 15 hours, from Yasin Rest House its almost 35 km at the altitude of 3700 meters (12140 feet from sea level) is required to arrive at the heavenly place of “Poonering kish”. A jeepable road up to the end of Nazbar Village (15 km) rest of 20 km is to walk along Nazbar river.
