Dating from the last decade of the 16th century and built at the behest of Hadum Sylejman Efendia-Hadum Aga, this gorgeous mosque in the centre of the Grand Bazaar (Çarshia e Madhe) is a must-see for anybody visiting Gjakova. Comprising a main prayer hall, ornate vestibule and minaret, the mosque is famous for its colourful interior and exterior. Inside, you can find many wooden elements, dizzying arabesque patterns and colourful landscapes, whilst the front door is a blaze of flowers and plants in blues, reds and yellows. Seriously damaged in 1999 War, restoration work began in 2001/2 and continued in 2016/17. Based on historical, artistic, scientific, social and spiritual values, this mosque in 2016 was declared as a monument in the permanent protection of national level.
