When The Gorillas Came on a Human Tracking Tour!
Ladies and Gentlemen, after we had a wonderful day at Ishasha in Queen Elizabeth National Park, we proceeded to Buhoma arriving well and in high spirits for the gorilla tracking day with clients so excited like little children looking forward to their first day at school.
The day started well with a perfect weather as I went to register my clients at the reception. I finished the paperwork early enough for them to go and have a glimpse of the most beautiful and exciting activity that they were just about to begin on video.
They then went for a briefing before breaking up into small groups according to the families of gorillas they were to track that morning. All went well and my clients who tracked the Rushegura family were back as early as 11:00 am.
I was so happy to receive them back, though, but a little bit sad for one of my clients who did not make it because he had sustained a minor strain the previous night after he had one too many for the night. Little did I know that this was actually the wrong time for sadness because the gorillas had decided to come up to The Buhoma Community Rest Camp to find out why one of their special guests did not turn up for their long-awaited meeting on a rare Human Tracking Mission?
They, therefore, decided to come up to the Guest’s tent and give him a courtesy call to brief him on what was discussed in the Rushegura Jungle Conference Center of Southern Bwindi in his absence. I am glad I was that special driver guide for this special client who gave me a rare opportunity of being tracked by the gorillas led by chairman of the meeting; The Silverback at no Cost.
I love you Mr. Silver Back, long live Buhoma Community Rest Camp, long live my special client, long live Destination Jungle – you are indeed the 'Sounds of the Jungle'. Glory to the Sovereign and most High God for His wonderful creations, may your Kingdom Come!
