El Gouna stretches over 11 kilometres of unspoiled beaches. It seems to have something to offer everyone: secluded beaches and exclusive hotels, for those looking for a getaway from the city; desert safaris and the best diving in the world for the more adventurous; inland entertainment for those travelling with the family; and great nightlife for the wild-hearted.
El Gouna started with an interesting vision: friends, boats, and a passion for the sea. What started as a dream and a marina, developed into a complete and integral tourist center, with the most luxurious accommodation, internationally recognized hotels, a wide range of picturesque restaurants and a small resident community.
It then evolved more like a city, with a life and soul of its own. Now it is more than a tourist destination as it has become an attractive home for foreigners from all over the world. Private businesses are thriving, from a boutique to a restaurant owner, as well as anyone who invests in the city’s industrial sector.
Although it is hard to imagine, El Gouna’s growth has been carefully planned, with beauty and functionality as priorities and despite having been transformed into a self-sufficient urban tourist center with powerful infrastructure and extensive community support facilities, El Gouna has also maintained an environmentalist policy. This city was recently awarded the “ecological tourism center” prize for its great efforts in the preservation of the environment.
