Here is a complete list of the best beaches in Zanzibar.
Kendwa
Kendwa Beach is one of our zanzibareñas beaches favourites, located in the northwest of the island. A true paradise of crystal clear water, ideal for enjoying a swim and contemplating the marine fauna while snorkelling and also for tanning in the sun on its fine white sand.
Nungwi
The most touristic area of Zanzibar is Nungwi Beach, on the north of the island. Very spacious and, as always, with crystal clear waters, it will be ideal to disconnect and stay in one of the many accommodations that it has around. Here you can have unforgettable moments resting in a hammock under the umbrella, drinking coconut water and listening to music, watching the sunset or dining on fresh seafood with bare feet on the sand under the moonlight.
Nungwi is the starting point from where you can perform a variety of water activities, such as snorkelling on the island of Mnemba or scuba diving, among others.
Jambiani and Paje
Located to the south of the island, they are other areas that we recommend, especially if you want to do activities such as kitesurfing. There is a large production of algae (algae farms) that are exported to make cosmetics organized by a women’s NGO.
It is a good place to let the nightfall and watch the moon rise well. And with several places to party too.
Kizimkazi
From this southern beach, you can do the “Safari Blue” and the “tour with the Dolphins”
Michamvi
Located north of Paje, it is one of our favourite areas in the south of the island; due to its tranquillity and the spectacular mangrove that is exposed when the tide goes out, it is a perfect place to watch the sunset.
Here you can do the snorkelling activity called “the blue lagoon”, where coral and colourful fish are the protagonists.
Bwenjuu
Another of the best beaches in Zanzibar in Tanzania, without any doubt, is the Bwenjuu beach, to the east of the island, which we love mainly because it is very quiet, since it is away from tourism, and because it allows us to see the young people of the tribes Maasai playing, walking or fishing. It is possibly the most authentic beach in Zanzibar.
Pongwe
The beach Pongwe maintains the balance between tourism and tranquillity, being a very good option to stay in during your trip while enjoying a large beach with fine sand and calm water and transparency as protagonists.
