Uganda has one of the largest numbers of wildlife diversity. This ranges from flora and fauna, the Big 5, primates, mammals, birds and, best to note, the big cats. Uganda has a number of best locations to spot the big cats, among which we have Lions, Cheetah, Leopards and Spotted Hyena.

Kidepo Valley National Park is home to the Cheetahs. The Narus Valley is also a good game-drive spot for the Lions. These can usually be spotted on top of rocks and thickets. Murchison Falls National Park is also good for filming and tracking Lions and Hyenas. Leopards are not a common sight but, once in a while, may be spotted on top of trees. And, of course, Queen Elizabeth is home to the famous tree-climbing lions.

The Ishasha sector is a famous place for documenting these unique cats chilling on treetops. Kasenyi plains also offer a good game drive experience to spot one or two of these hunters in the early morning before sunrise. Mweya Peninsular is also one of those key areas especially because of the Kazinga Channel waters that attract a number of prey and since it is where most wildlife congregates.

Most important of all, Uganda acquired a tiger at the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, adding to the Big cat profile in the country.

Big cats are among the most threatened species by poaching and trafficking, and so, a number of initiatives have been at the task with fighting for these animals through filming and education.
