Tips and Tricks for Visiting Borobudur Temple: New Ticket Regulations Borobudur Temple

One of Indonesia’s most iconic landmarks has recently introduced new ticketing regulations to ensure the preservation of this ancient wonder. With the new system in place, visitors now have two types of tickets to choose from: the Climb Temple Structure Ticket and the Park/Ground Ticket.

Climb Temple Structure Ticket: This ticket allows you to not only explore the temple grounds but also climb to the top of the temple (Stupa). However, access to the temple’s upper levels is limited by a visitor quota, Only 150 tickets per section and for one day, there are 8 sections. so it’s essential to book your tickets in advance, especially during peak seasons. The Temple Ticket is perfect for those who want to enjoy a more in-depth experience of Borobudur. Another point is you will get facilities like sandals (Upanat) and 250ml mineral water. Then you can keep it as your souvenir.

Park/Ground Ticket: If you prefer to explore the exterior and the surrounding park areas, the Park Ticket is a more budget-friendly option. While you won’t be able to climb the temple, this ticket still allows you to enjoy the stunning views and learn about the temple's history and significance.

Tips: Be sure to check the official Borobudur website for ticket availability and the latest updates. Early booking for the Temple Ticket is recommended to avoid missing out on the opportunity to climb the temple. Use sunblock because it gets quite hot; the temperature is approx 30 - 35 Celcius.
