The city of Gold is becoming home to the world’s largest Ferris wheel, Ain Dubai. The Ain Dubai will open its doors on 20th October 2020. Being one of the most anticipated tourist places, Ain Dubai will open at the time of the inauguration of Expo 2020 Dubai. The place will provide you with 360-degree views of Dubai city and the skyline. Catch the sunset from the Ain Dubai and it will seem like you are looking through the gates of heaven. From the observation deck, you will get a glimpse of the famous attractions of Dubai like Burj Khalifa, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, and Burj Al Arab.
What is Ain Dubai
Ain Dubai is basically Dubai’s version of the London Eye although a lot bigger and a lot higher. To compare both, the Ain Dubai which stands at a staggering 210m is almost twice the height of the London Eye which is 135m. When it comes to Dubai, always expect the unexpected. Ain Dubai weighs 9,000 tonnes which are 25% more than the weight of the Eiffel Tower, which weighs 7,300 tonnes. The Ain Dubai will leave you gaping with the enthralling views of the city of Dubai and the stunning skyline.
How was the architectural wonder assembled?
The weight of this giant structure is beyond imagination. The manufacturing of the spindle and the hub of the Ain Dubai was external. But, the assembling happened in the UAE. These sit atop the 126-meter tall legs, forming a stretch of 40m and a height of 20m. The wheel’s hub was connected to the rim using 192 spoke cables!
You will be astonished to know that two of the largest cranes in the world with a lifting capacity of 3,000 tonnes have been deputized to put the structure together. It took about a month to weld the spindle frames to the four legs of the Ferris Wheel. It was these cranes that help up the weight of the entire structure at this time.
You will be amazed to know that the construction of the spindle which is 6.25 meters is from the steel that is used at nuclear plants. You do not have to think about your safety as it has been welded and rolled with so much skill. Like all other structures in Dubai, Ain Dubai’s structural durability and safety cannot be questioned. The giant Ferris Wheel has been constructed after minute planning.
Where is it located?
Ain Dubai is located at Bluewaters Island. It is being developed on reclaimed land by Meraas Holdings, about 500m off the Jumeirah Beach Residence Coastline. The place is a perfect combination of the serenity of the island and the vibrant vibe of a city. This man-made island will include hospitality, retail, entertainment, and residential zones.
The island will include two five star hotels with direct beach access. It will include ten residential buildings with world-class facilities like basketball courts, gyms, swimming pools, play areas, and gardens. The island will also have 200 retail, food and beverage outlets in the entertainment section and at the ground floor of the residential buildings.
How does it feel to be on board the Ain Dubai?
The Dubai Eye features 48 capsules with a seating capacity of 1400 people. The size of each capsule is about 30 meters and it can fit up to 40 people comfortably. The walls of the capsules are made of glass. You will witness breathtaking views of the city and the panoramic views of the Dubai skyline. Also, keeping in line with the newest technology, each capsule will have smart climate control and LED screens that will give you information about the views.
The towering structure also features 6 VIP capsules with private fine dining for about 40 people. Six capsules will also have a licensed bar. So, you know where you can sip on a drink while watching the sunset and the dynamic skyline of the city.
