Is Moscow on your bucket list? If not, there are some of the reasons to add it!
Capital of the biggest country in the world: Moscow wasn't always the capital, but its historical legacy is enormous. Here you can find ancient monuments of middle-aged Rus', the luxury of Tsar's times, Soviet architecture and modern chic.
Eclecticism: Moscow is a place where a theatre is located on the same street as a nightclub, where behind the front facade are hidden dark lanes, a modern office building is a neighbor to 18th century mansion. Sounds drastic but you should come here to feel it.
Diversity: In Moscow, you can find any place that suits you according to your ideological or religious preferences: halal food, vegetarian restaurants, mosques and synagogues, LGBT-friendly bars, etc. Don't be afraid of xenophobia here!
Parks & Palaces: Moscow always remained a bit "countryside" and many noble people or members of Tsar's dynasty built country residences to spend summer or take rest from the busy life in Petersburg. Moscow is very green (in summer, of course). There are about three hundred parks of different formats: city parks, large squares, gardens, forest park farms, manors and reserves. The infrastructure of the central parks implies youth to rest, while in more remote green areas Muscovites prefer to walk with children and relax.
Museums: Starting from the Kremlin and Tretyakov gallery, Moscow offers such a wide range of museum that any traveler can find something interesting here! Cosmonautics Museum, Natural History (The State Darwin Museum), very well technically equipped Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center, galleries of modern art and so on. Try to visit at least one of them even if you're not a museum fan!
Nightlife: People like to say that Moscow never sleeps. There are so many clubs and bars that work all night and cosy cafes that work from early morning to greet you in their warm ambience. It's definitely worth trying at least one. Party like a Russian!
Cultural Life in Theatres, Ballet, & Shows: Starting from the Bolshoi and ending with small local platforms there are around 170 theatres in Moscow and it's not even a cultural capital of Russia (Saint Petersburg is!). Dedicate one evening to opera or musical concert. You don't have to understand Russian to enjoy it.
Restaurants: Here you can find all cuisines that are possible to find. Not only Russian but many varieties of Asian, European or American meals. Cafes are trendy here, people meet up, work or to have lunch, so the level of quality must maintain very high. If you wish to try real traditional Russian cuisine, book a dinner at local's home!
Sport: Here you can not only play sports but also visit a huge variety of sports events. Hockey and football are very popular in Russia, and after the World Cup, the sporting infrastructure is in excellent condition.
Business: According to official data alone, over two million guests visit the city for business purposes. Every year, over 200 international exhibitions, hundreds of forums, congresses and conferences take place in the Russian capital. In addition, if you are looking for a business partner who speaks English, the easiest way is to find him in Moscow.
